The importance of pre production

The importance of the whole of the pre production is to work out how the production is going to work. The pre-production is the like the planning and preparation for the video when it is being created. its a what you put in the video such as what sounds what the story is like and other.

Research into film/music video directors
The reason why you need to research in a music video at pre-production is because you need to know what it is about and how to make the videos. by researching you will have a idea of what the music video will look like at the end of the production also you will know what shots and techniques you need to use and when it comes to editing you need to know how to make it accurate by making the lips sync accurate to the audio.

Treatment
The treatment is one of the crucial part of the pre-production stage this is because it explains what the video is going to be about. you should write a brief paragraph of what the video is.

Moodboard
The mood board is when there a images that represents what the film is going to be about. If you are pitching the film idea, the sets of pictures that you have used in a mood board will portray that what kind of story that your video is going to be like. for example if your video is about horror killing you may put blood, ghost or whatever your idea of the movie is about.
 Risk assessment for each location
The Locations in a pre production should show what locations you are using and the risk assessment part is where ever you going what risk are there if the production team gets injured or harmed. for example if you are filming at a location on a mountain and you have to write what may happened while the filming on the mountain.

Ask for permission via Email, Twitter, Myspace Etc
if you are using someone else's image of music for your film you have to ask permission because it is not something you own you have to contact them some how saying you are using it.

Timeline analysis
A time line analysis is where you are estimating the time for each scene you take this will help you  structure the video and give you a over view of how long it will be

Storyboard
The storyboard is when you are spreading the films scene in to sections and annotating it and drawing it showing a breif plan of the shots that are going to be used, what is hapening in the scene and how long it is going to be.

Animatic
Crew list
The Crew list is the cast being used in the productions this help by naming the roles of what each person ha to do when producing the film.  Also having a crew list shows that who is participating in the video.

Shot list
The show list shows that what shots are going to be used throughout the video such as panning and Etc...

Locations list
The location list is where film location is going to be used at. this is important because you should keep a record of where you are going to film because the location may not be able to be used at that time or the weather may be what you expect. Also the location of the film may depend on what you film is about.

Budget
Every film production team needs to have a budget that they need. for example they need to spend their money on on equipment such as camera lighting and other useful equipment. Also the budget will give a over view of how much it will cost the film will need for props and other equipment

Film test footage
This is when the user test the video. however when you test it you should take a few clips just in case and the person should pick the best one. also when you a testing the footage it should be perfect and fit in to the scenes that you planned or made.

Planning rest of Mise En Scene (clothing, props, make-up, effects etc)
The mise scens is what you are going to use in the video such as effects make-up props and clothing. you should plan all these before you make it to make the video accurate as possible. you should plan all of these so you can make sure they are available when you are producing the video

Pitch to gain feedback (presentation to the class about the ideas)
every single film producer should make a presentation to pitch and it should contain information about what your video is going to be about and shows all the pre production work that you have done

research methods

primary research
this is when the person that is researching gathered all the information them selves. people use Primary research in media for the reason because to find out what they are going to create such as a documentary or a music video. also they can research about the topic that the video is going to be about. example of primary research is that the person can go to people and interview them asking other people what they think about the video or another way to do primary research is by doing a questionnaire.

secondary research
The summary and evaluating someones work. for example going to look at a blog and see what they have done and how you can get ideas from looking at it.

Qualitative research
this is the research when it goes in to depth in detail this research is mostly used for exploratory of the research. This will give you an advantage for the reason because it will provide a lot of information where you can divert and expand from. This includes interviews, focus groups, observations case studies and other examples of qualitative research.

Quantitative research
This is the research where Quantitative research is aimed with allocating numbers to ideas – it aims to provide accurate measurements of what people think. Quantitative research is used to measure the incidence of various views and opinions in a chosen sample
